Itinerary

FULL DAY: SACRED VALLEY CHINCHERO MARAS - MORAY OLLANTAYTAMBO PISAQ

Discover the Majestic Sacred Valley of the Incas”

Meeting Point: Plaza de Armas at 6:45 a.m.

Our first stop is the Chinchero archaeological site, located 30 km from the city of Cusco. This town served as an Inca textile center, where we’ll explore the wool production process and its pigmentation. Next, we’ll head to the Moray archaeological site, which functioned as an Inca agricultural research center for conducting crop experiments at different altitudes.

Continuing our journey, we’ll visit the salt mines of Maras, which consist of over 3,000 natural salt pools, each measuring 5 square meters. These pools are supplied by an underground hypersaline spring that originated 110 million years ago during the formation of the Andes Mountains. We’ll take some time for lunch in the charming village.

Next, we’ll drive for approximately 30 minutes to the town of Ollantaytambo, where we’ll explore the Inca fortress and the llama temple. Finally, our tour will conclude at the viewpoint of the Pisaq archaeological site, and we’ll return to the city of Cusco at 19h.
